You may relate to some of the situations our clients have found themselves in:
De-cluttering - My husband and I are afraid to go into our basement! It should belong to us, but it has been taken over by boxes. When either of us goes downstairs to look for something specific, we often have to hunt through multiple boxes to find the needed item. And who knows how many boxes of light bulbs have been purchased without remembering that there are already seven boxes somewhere in the basement. We know a purge is the first step, but we can’t find the time and the task looms over us like a black cloud. What do I do?- Pre-move Organization - We are getting ready to move. The last time we did this we moved boxes that were unopened from a couple of previous moves. I’m sure the move would be easier if we got rid of some of this stuff, but the home-buying/selling process is already so time-consuming and draining. We will just end up moving those unneeded things again if we don’t get help. What should we do?
- Empty-nesters - Now that the kids are grown and we’re retired, we’ve got much more home than we need. But the smaller home we would like does not have space for all of our belongings. We need an objective, non-critical, and trustworthy helping hand to aid us in the process of getting rid of non-essential items, so that we truly can downsize. Can you help?
- Loss of a Loved One – My wife recently passed away. Life without her is already so difficult and the thought of going through her personal belongings leaves me feeling overwhelmed. I’m just not sure I can take on that emotional task alone. Is this something you can help with?
- Forced Downsize - I’ve been diagnosed with a terminal illness. My children all live out of state. Like most people, I have a lot of stuff. I’d love to spare my children the task of sifting through years of accumulated possessions. It would be a relief to have someone help me go through my belongings now. Do you do provide this type of service?
- Ordering Financial Information - My uncle passed away recently and I had to travel across the country to wrap up his personal affairs. Unfortunately, they were not in order and I had to sift through piles of papers just to find out who his CPA and attorney were. In addition, a lot of time was spent determining what assets he owned. It was a wake up call for me, and I don’t want to ever put my loved ones through such an ordeal. I’d like to maintain a record of all my financial affairs in a document that could be regularly updated, but I don’t know where to begin. Can you give me some guidance?
